Gene
Kazlow has often been described as "a people person" who
finds satisfaction in taking care of the people in his life.
But, as an attorney who sincerely cares about his clients, he feels
a sense of obligation to share perspectives that may be unpopular.
"Often times a client wants an attorney to adopt a point of view that
coincides with his or her own. I always tell my clients
what I genuinely think meaning, I don't embellish. I
only tell them the truth, even though it might not be what they want
to hear."
Gene
Kazlow enjoys working on a contingency basis, the relevance
of which cannot be overstated when one is searching for the right
attorney. Litigation can become very expensive, and, although
out of pocket disbursements are usually borne by the client, legal
time is not. "The important thing to remember when working on
a contingency basis," according to Mr. Kazlow,
"is that it must be a win-win situation, i.e. a good case that will
benefit both the client and my law firm. Having a strong case
is only part of the equation. The potential defendant in any
major case must have the financial wherewithal to survive a judgment."
In the event that representation is needed to defend a lawsuit commenced
against a client, the firm also works on an hourly basis, when appropriate,
at a very reasonable rate.
Although
the law offices of KAZLOW
& KAZLOW handle all types of collection
cases, they are commonly sought out in the pursuit of major problems
including complex litigation that are not limited to
the State of New York. There are in fact a number of cases that
the firm is currently prosecuting in Federal Courts located in various
other states.
Mr.
Kazlow presently serves on the Board of Governors of the
Commercial Law League of America, the preeminent Association in the
credit industry, a position to which he was recently elected after
having previously acted as a Recording Secretary. His tenure
with the CLLA (he has been a member since 1964) has afforded him "the
opportunity to work with some of the finest attorneys in this country,
and in the world, that specialize in collection, commercial litigation
and bankruptcy. My clients come from all walks of life and include
attorneys in New York, attorneys throughout the country and collection
agencies, among others. In fact, more than a few of the companies
that we represent rely on us to handle all of their legal concerns."
The
Law Firm of KAZLOW
& KAZLOW has specialized in the area
of creditors' rights since 1964. In the words of Gene
Kazlow, "Experience counts. This year I will be entering
my 40th year of practicing law. That's a long time! But
the time has counted for a lot. Clients have grown comfortable
coming to me with their problems; I guess that's because I am a good
listener. And, as a rule, I never bill for the initial conversation.
